SEW IN HORROR! 1 YEAR NATURAL UPDATE
I wore my 10 inch virgin brazilian straight hair for 9 weeks. During this time period, I moisturized every other day, I co-washed once a week, and washed with a sulfate free shampoo every other week, and followed up with a deep conditioning with ors replenishing conditioner. I even clarified after a month of the sew in. Seems like such a perfect regimen, but my hair decided that this is a no-no!
After taking out this sew in, my hair was not in the state that I would like. It had build up and some parts were almost looking like they were locking. After prepooing for 10 minutes w/ heat and apply conditioner to detangle, I attempted a detangling session that lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes with no breaks. This was so painful and I did this strand by strand, thank god for conditioner because i took out almost only shedded hair (YAY) which means, minimal breakage.
I'm just super happy that I learned this very valuable lesson. Do not, I repeat, Do not, follow what other people are doing if your regimen is working for you. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
After having a sensitive scalp, (from fighting with my hair to detangle), and tired arms from being up trying to handle this mess, I decided to go back to/twerk my old regimen.
-I will wear my sew ins for 6-8 weeks , NO MORE/ NO LESS!!!!!
-During my sew in, I will moisturize with scurl every other day. Once a week, I will oil my scalp && moisturize with creme of nature argan oil leave in.
##I will no longer be co-washing weekly or using my sulfate free shampoo.
- I will cleanse my scalp with ors dry shampoo bi-weekly. Then oil my scalp and moisturize my hair with scurl.
-At 4 weeks, I will do an intense leave in treatment with cantu shea butter leave in repair cream for 30 minutes with heat, then proceed to oiling & moisturizing.
-After taking out my sew in, I will prepoo with oils , clarify my hair with tresemme deep cleansing shampoo, and deep condition with oils and ors replenishing conditioner for 1hour w/ heat. Moisturize with scurl, apply cantu shea butter, seal with oil mix, and apply shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie && air dry.
I will let my hair breathe for 2 weeks in between sew ins.
While on my 2 week break...
-I will co-wash once a week with any suave naturals conditioner. Then proceed with aussie 3 minute miracle and let it sit. Moisturize with scurl, apply cantu shea butter, seal with oil mix && air dry.

-Scalp will be oiled 1x a week.
#Regi
-After my sew ins, I will be leaving my hair out for 2 weeks. I have also changed my cleansing methods.
-I now co-wash 1x a week with aussie moist. I then follow up with aussie 3 minute miracle. I have realized that my hair thrives best when clean so every weekend I cleanse with my creme of nature sulfate free shampoo. Deep conditioning will now only be with the ors replenishing conditioner & my oil mix.
-My clarifying schedule have not changed. I will clarify after every sew in.
-Instead of doing the l.o.c. method, i now do the l.c.o. method (my twist to it). I spray scurl, then I apply cantu shea butter, then seal with my oil mix of coconut, castor, peppermint oil (done on washdays).
-Scalp is also oiled on washdays/2x a week. In between wash days I keep my hair moisturized with shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie.
#Styling
-Protective styles in between sew ins are my draw string puff and the marley braid bun that I do. Both match my natural texture beautifully.
#Progress
-My edges and sides around my ears have filled in quite a bit. My nape has improved also but there is still much room for improvement! Overall, my hair has come a long way. Since my 1 year anniversary, I will have a sew in I won't be able to do a length check on the exact date. BUT I will do an asap length check && progress pics (to show fullness) as soon as I take out my sew in.
#Trimming
-I will trim every 2 sew ins .

Natural Hair Update
I am so happy to say that I took out my sew in! Now I can finally see my hair. I did not notice this before or maybe the improvements occured during the sew in. My hair Thickened a lot , including my nape & edges. I can feel the density difference as I am detangling and twisting my hair for M&S. I think it grew very little from my last sew in but thickened tremendously. BTW I am 10 months natural now :) My year is approaching faster than ever. Can't wait!

My nape ! Progress ;)
I leave out my edges and nape for my sew ins and i'm loving it! I will continue to do this with my sew ins but with my braids I will just re-braid them every 2 weeks to prevent breakage :)
#UPDATE
I AM NO LONGER LEAVING OUT MY EDGES AND NAPE. I JUST BRAID MY EDGES AND NAPE SEPARATE FROM THE REST OF MY BRAIDS AND I DO THEM MUCH LOOSER THAN THE REST OF MY HAIR. I WILL GROW THIS HAIR!

NEW HAIR GOALS
This darn fine hair drives me insane!!!
At 9 months natural, i decided to change my mindset.
I decided to stop obsessing over length, because it's making me go crazy! I recently made shoulder length (grazing shoulder length).
After checking my scalp for alopecia, I am glad to say that i just have fine natural hair. Weirdly, my scalp has no big gaps/parts when i checked my hair so I have hope. This brought me too my conclusion that although my hair is very fine, i'm gonna have some damn healthy fine hair.
NEW GOALS
-Thicken up/Get fuller and healthier fine hair.
-Will do length checks every 6 months
-When doing sew ins, I will do braids looser especially around edges and nape
-Sew ins must not exceed 4 weeks to prevent unnecessary breakage
-Trim/dust ends every 6 months to keep ends looking healthy and full
-Do more research on styling fine natural hair
-Achieve at least full shoulder length by the end of 2013
#I have noticed improvement in my edges and hair , therefore I see that the castor oil in my oil mix is doing its part. I will continue being consistent to achieve my hair goals
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
-I will stop comparing my hair to thick haired naturals and stop hating it for what it isn't. Instead i will learn how to work with it and achieve styles that makes it look its best. :)

HAIR UPDATE (took out my sew in)
Today was my wash day and I must say I am satisfied with my results. At first, I was a little worried because my hair was a little drier than usual but my deep conditioning treatments handled all that. So far in my hair journey I've learned that moisture and protein balance does not necessarily mean 50/50. I did twerk my regimen and I will be doing only light protein treatments with ors replenishing conditioner when needed. Other than that I will be doing weekly moisture treatments & alternating between my aussie and my beautiful textures.
Oh yea, on the beautiful textures, my hair LOVES IT! I'm glad that it was not a waste of 5 dollars. I think it will be a staple, I love the consistency, slip and most of all the Moisture! :)
MY KINKY CURLY 4A FINE STRANDS ARE OOHH SO HAPPY!
#I am currently trying out the L.O.C. method. Hope all goes well
Sorry I will not be posting a update pic. The next pic I will be taking is for my 1 year natural hair anniversary. HHJ yall!

1 more week till takedown!
I can't believe that I've already had my hair for 5 weeks! This means that I am close to taking my sew in down. I am not going to lie, I did slack a couple of days in the week on moisturizing and sealing BUT I kept my hair moisturized and never failed to cleanse and do my deep leave in treatment.
I am so excited to take this virgin hair down next week friday or saturday. Not because the hair is misbehaving , ( I would leave it in for a year if that was the case, this virgin hair is bomb.com) but because I've never left a sew in in my hair for this long, I usually go 3-4 weeks. I must say I am proud of myself for reaching my goal. I hope that I retain a good amount of length and that I see some thickness. If I am happy with the results, I will post a progress pic on here.
1 MORE WEEK TO GO!!! :)

I AM LOVING THIS INDIAN HAIR!
-This hair has been THE absolute best hair i've ever had. Here's a pic of it now. I will never go back to beauty supply hair because i fell in love.
Also, i've learned somethings about this indian hair. It loves sulfate free shampooing, aussie moist conditioner, herbal essences anti frizz creme and lots, lots, i mean LOTS of water.
BTW I changed the part in my silk based closure, no more open book (middle part) till the next install of this hair. Had 3 great weeks, 3 more weeks to go :)
